KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Malaysia's palm oil exports in July are expected to
be around 25% higher on month, traders said Wednesday.
They said exports are likely to be close to 1.37 million metric tons.
"Shipments have been higher this month, but they also include cargoes from
Indonesia that were temporarily stored in tankers at Malaysian ports to skirt
around higher export taxes (in Indonesia) for July," said a Kuala Lumpur-based
executive at a global trading company.
Expectations of a rise in exports pushed CPO futures on Malaysia's
derivatives exchange into positive territory.
At 0947 GMT, the benchmark October contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives was
trading MYR16 higher at MYR2,985/ton, off an intraday low of MYR2,909.
